Boot Camp Beginner Photography: Virtual
If you’ve ever said, “I want better photos but I don’t know what I’m doing…” — this Boot Camp is for you.
This is my Beginner Photography Boot Camp, designed to help you become sufficient at photographing in Manual Mode and understand what your camera is doing (and why), so you can stop guessing and start creating on purpose.
This workshop is hands-on. You’ll be touching your camera the entire time — pausing to practice, check playback, and write down observations as you learn. I'll even be tethered to my own camera so you can see things happen in real time.
In this Boot Camp, you’ll learn how to:
Navigate the must-know buttons and dials on your DSLR or mirrorless camera
Use Manual Mode (plus beginner-friendly semi-automatic modes) with confidence
Understand the Exposure Triangle (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) and how settings “compensate” for one another
Read and use the exposure meter as a guide (without relying on it blindly)
Control background blur and depth of field with aperture
Freeze motion (or capture it intentionally) with shutter speed
Use ISO wisely — and choose “grainy over dark” when it counts
Analyze your photos through playback so you can learn faster with every practice round
Create clean indoor lighting setups using one main window and controlled light sources
Apply “rules of thumb” to real-life photos so you know where to start (without getting overwhelmed)
What’s included
Full Boot Camp replay (approximately 1 hour)
Workbook
Follow-up resources
Invitation to join the Collaborative Schoolhouse Facebook group for ongoing questions and community support
Who this is for
True beginners who feel intimidated by Manual Mode
Business owners, content creators, and parents who want sharper, brighter photos
Anyone who learns best by practicing instead of just listening
No amount of education replaces practice — but this Boot Camp gives you the structure, tools, and confidence to practice the right way.
Happy shooting. 💛📸
