How Can I Get More Attention for My Business Without Posting More Content?
You’ve spent so much time creating great social media content but you’re still having trouble getting sales.
That’s because the right people aren’t seeing it.
Sometimes lack of visibility has nothing to do with the algorithm, nothing to do with your content, and everything to do with your ego.
OUCH.
The algorithm only does so much. At its core, social media is social. So if you aren’t an account that offers engagement OUT, you could be missing lots of little corners of the internet. Corners stuffed with people not just excited to learn you exist but eager to choose you as the expert when the time is right.
My top 5 tricks for strategic outbound engagement 👉
Follow & Engage Accounts
Open Ended Questions
Share & Repost Content
Utilize Stories
Connect Others

FOLLOW & ENGAGE ACCOUNTS
Go where you know your people already are. Follow the same accounts and engage with the content and other commentors. Ask yourself 👉
Where do they shop?
What artists do they listen to?
What restaurants do they frequent?
What colleges do they root for?
What industry adjacent accounts do they follow?
OPEN ENDED QUESTIONS
You know all those compliments you keep in your head? It’s time to bring them to the surface and sprinkle them in the form of comments. Keep them authentic and end them with a question that invites cyclical conversation.
Don’t forget to read through comments on others’ posts, too. It’s okay to spark conversation, even if it’s not a post you’ve published.
SHARE & REPOST CONTENT
Share your content with people but also share other people’s content with people. You can do this by directly forwarding appropriate content to a receive or you can reshare a post to your stories or your “repost” tab.
UTILIZE STORIES
I like to use stories as a way to send a little reminder to my audience that I exist. Every time you post a story, your account refreshes as the first visible. You remain in that position until someone else they follow posts— in which case you get moved down the line.
Stories are meant to be short and punchy but a great way to see who is viewing regularly and what action is being taken. Be sure to add stickers, like a poll or question box — a response from someone in your audience is a great “in” to keep conversation going.
CONNECT OTHERS
Never underestimate the power of, “I saw this and thought of you.”
It’s incredible to feel seen and remembered.
Social media is first social. It can sometimes feel like a job, but that’s why it’s so important to make sure your time there is spent strategically. Socially, but strategically.
Adding outbound engagement, even if minutes at a time while you’re sitting on the toilet every day, can completely change how you sell from social media.
