Starting From Scratch: How to Build a Business Network That Helps You Grow

You’re starting with a small network and you’re not really sure where to find anyone to help you grow.

Here’s the good news 👉 Most people don’t.

While some people do start with established padded assets, like a well connected network or fat ass inheritance, most people spend years building them from the ground up. Thats how’s investments work— you utilize resources to make investments that turn into assets.

Your network is no different.

It must be built. Poured into. Drawn from strategically.

Your network doesn’t need to be big. It needs to be valuable.

YOU WANT TO GROW WITH OTHERS.

The best place to find people to help you grow is wherever they’re already showing up.

And “help me grow” doesn’t always mean “send me business.”

It might mean someone who knows something you don’t. Someone who serves the same audience differently. Someone who can introduce you to a community you haven’t found yet. Someone who challenges how you think. Someone who becomes a collaborator, referral partner, mentor, friend, or client.

You’re not looking for people to use. You’re looking for people to grow with.

What you need to build your tree of biggest fans? Strong roots? Supporting stems? Nice flowers? You don’t need it all right now. Which is good because no one can give it all to you anyway.

What does your network need right now? Go where they’re going— physically and otherwise.

Day 21 of 30 days of writing something every day.
